Tammy's recollection of meeting Carl

It was August 2010. My Rick had been gone for over a year and it was time for me to begin living again. I posted 'Free to a good man' and then 'Rent to own' but had no takers. Carl posted a comment about how he'd done that and it didn't work out. I commented back that I came with a John Deere and a gas grill. He responded with...'what about a bass boat?' OUCH !! I had been reading his daily posts...all his jokes and word of the day...and honestly I thought he was corny and very flirtatious. And maybe a bit arrogant. (Sorry honey but I'm being honest here.) He posted the word 'wouldja' on August 10th using the sentence 'Wouldja like to see a movie?' I commented...'Are you asking me to see a movie?' He then posted something corny about going dutch and having wooden shoes. I responded that actually I did have wooden shoes. And the next thing I knew I had a private message from Carl Barger asking me if I would like to see a movie. I was elated...giddy actually. Maybe this dating thing wasn't going to be so hard after all. At least I saw it as a date ! Carl later told me that he was just planning on taking me to a movie as a 'friend'. So I sent him a text back explaining that I had lost my husband and was just starting to date and I would love to go see a movie with him. And I sent him my cell and home # and told him to call at 7 the next evening. So on August 11th, he called right at 7. We talked for over an hour. He made me laugh a lot but there were moments of silence too. He even said at one point...'this is awkward'. Carl wanted to come out to meet me that night but I told him we would do it the next evening. I think it was 6 when he got to my house on August 12. I was so nervous but really excited too. I loved his deep phone voice and thought his new FB picture was nice. The doorbell rang. I nervously opened the door and 'wow'...there was this adorable tall man who raised his eyebrows at me and said 'Hi'. I was grinning from ear to ear and told him that his facebook picture did not do him justice. We had talked on the phone about sitting in the swing and getting to know each other to see if there was any chemistry before deciding to go to dinner but there was no need. I walked up to him and gave him a hug and said...let's go to dinner. We went to Outback...I was so nervous...he told me how cute he thought I was...several times...and I was just thinking about what a doll he was.Uh...we didn't make it to the movie but instead went to Melton Hill park to...uh...well...park. We were making out when the security guard ran us off. Deja vu...but I was only 15 the first time ! Everything felt so right that night...the way I fit in his arms...the way he slow danced with me...the passionate kisses. It was a magical first date. ♥ Carl asked me to be exclusive with him that night. I didn't see anything wrong with that...the feeling was mutual but my family and friends...well lets just say they did not agree...and leave it at that. I was so euphoric after he left me that night. Our 2nd date lasted from 8 p.m. Saturday until 2:45 Sunday afternoon. That was some second date ! I was already in love with this man...madly in love...and thinking I was going to be lucky in love for the second time.

How it really was

Carl's recollection of meeting Tammy

Here goes my account,(as much as I can remember), of how I met the love of my life....It was August and I was posting Jokes, she says are corny, and Tennessee Language 101 words, on Facebook,  that a lot of the older Tennesseans, as well as, younger ones say while talking...one of the things I like is the way people speak.

Tammy (Meeks) Stooksbury, one of my friends on Facebook, had posted......"Free to a good man".....and "Rent to Own".....at the time I thought she was just joking around. However, I posted my Tennessee Language 101 word for the day.."Wouldya...Used in a sentence...Wouldya like to go see a movie?....She posted.." Are you asking me out? Wink Wink  ; ).".......I thought to myself..."Hmmmm....I wonder if she would like to go see a movie"....Only on a friendship type basis..so I sent an invitation to her via Facebook messaging .... and she sent me her phone numbers.....I called and talked to her on August the 11th of 2010 and she said she would like to see a movie with me........on august the 12th I went to her house to take her to the movie......I knocked on the door and when she opened it..her eyes met mine and she hugged me and I hugged her...we sat on the front porch swing and kissed....boy is she a good kisser! Love at first sight!  Instead of going to the movie, we had dinner at Outback Steak house, then, left there and went to Melton Hill Park in Hardin Valley...stayed there until the park security threw us out..we still laugh about that....Everything was good!.....and still is!
